In 2008 Julia’s dam had problems delivering her single kid. I knew he was not alive and that he was very big. I could not get him out! The vet was called out and a c-section had to be performed to save the dam. We stood the dam on two bales of straw and the vet did a c-section with the doe standing up (this is the way they do cows). The surgery went very well, and we put the doe on the ground. She stood quietly for a few minutes, and then started to walk around (a very good sign).
I was nervous about the dam when it was time for her to kid in 2009, however everything went “picture perfect” and both Koza Julia and her mom “Julia” were fine. The only one stressed about the whole ordeal was me!
